One of my favourite new pastimes is to make my own household products with essential oils! Now I’d like to share my two favourite blends so you can make your own natural products.
Hand sanitizer
I always keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse because it’s really handy, especially when I go to a restaurant. It smells good and sanitizes, leaving my hands germ-free.
- 1 spray bottle, 60 mL (2 oz)
- 15 mL (1 tbsp.) witch hazel
- 10 mL (2 tsp.) pure aloe vera gel
- 10 mL (2 tsp.) vitamin E oil
- 10 drops each: lavender, tea tree, and frankincense essential oils
- 15 mL (1 tbsp.) pure alcohol
- Water to fill the bottle
To make this hand sanitizer, you need :
Simply add all the ingredients to the bottle, using a funnel if necessary, and then add your own label.
Air freshener
This blend can transform a room with a citrus aroma that will uplift anyone’s spirits. I leave a small spray bottle of it in my bathrooms, so I can always keep them smelling clean and fresh.
- 1 spray bottle, 60 mL (2 oz)
- 10 drops each: lemon, mandarin and tea tree essential oils
- Water to fill bottle
It’s so simple and inexpensive to make. Simply drip the essential oils directly into the bottle and top up with water. Be sure to shake it a little before each use. It’s as simple as that!
