Everyone wants to be happy and surrounded by human warmth. Every new year, we read or hear the same old question: what are your new year’s resolutions? I hate this question, especially the word “resolution.” Truth be told, resolutions never last very long, and then we feel guilty about it. For 2024, I want to share ideas for a healthier lifestyle and for being kinder to ourselves.
Adopt intuitive eating
You may have already heard of this approach to eating, which leads to sustainable changes that meet nutritional, psychological, cultural, and sensory needs. Intuitive eating teaches you to take better care of yourself. If you want to make changes to your diet, I highly recommend this way of thinking. To learn more, I invite you to read our article exclusively about this approach.
Indulge in some ME time
Life is short, and it’s often hard to stop and take beat. With all the recent events that turned our lives upside-down, we often forget to take time for ourselves. Slowing down for just a moment, once a week, can make the whole difference when it comes to mood and stress levels. At least once a week, do something relaxing that you love—take a bath, read a book, cook, make a puzzle, listen to music. Your body and soul will thank you.
Cook more
The joy of eating comes with the joy of cooking. Of course, not everyone knows how to cook. If this is you, I suggest taking it one step at time, cooking one more meal each week. Choose simple recipes with just a few ingredients. Sheet pan and slow cooker recipes are a good place to start for those who don’t want to spend hours by the stove. Try new flavours and new foods—that’s how you’ll discover recipes you like.
Put the phone away
Social media is (very) present in our lives. Try reducing your screen time. Here are a few tips that can help: leave your phone out of the bedroom, don’t look at it during meals, and set yourself realistic goals, like spending 15 minutes less in front of your screen each day. You’ll notice that these devices take time away from us. For 2024, I wish you a nice, relaxing year, where you can fully enjoy every moment.
